Alegria 293 Guesthouse, is located in the heart of a very central area of Porto, Bomfim, that is close to all the main amenities, such as Clerigos Towers, Lello bookshop, the baixa do Porto and the shops of Rua Santa Catarina. It was built in 1920 as a (big) family home but as it often happens, the old grew older and the young went abroad seeking new opportunities. This is the story behind our guesthouse: a property built on tradition, attention, care and a personal touch, owned by two tireless globetrotters, Can&Justyna, that landed in Portugal in 2018 and completely fell in love with the pasteis de nata, the bacalhau, the Portuguese people, the fado, the rivers, the history, and the art of this beautiful country.
It was after a troubled holiday that they decided to create places for travelers that could give them what they were looking for when traveling:
a new home away from home, a balance between comfort and the pleasure of discovery.
Touristic rental with a soul and a mission : help others globetrotters to know the world while having a pleasant and comfortable stay in their houses.
The guests experience truly is what matters the most to them. Living in London, and travelling often for work and leisure, they can’t be in all the places to welcome guests and make sure they get everything they need, but they made sure that each property has a trustful and caring staff in charge, that guests can contact and talk to in case they have questions or specific needs.
They, and all the staff, hope you will enjoy your stay and create lifetime memories.
Justyna and Can are the proud owners of Alegria 293, but living in London, they opted to have a trusted team on site to take care of their guests.
A team of professionals is waiting to welcome you and help you discover the best of Porto
—
Giulia, Italian with years of experience in tourism. She will be available all mornings at the house, to show the products on sale, the activities’ calendar, and to help you book any additional service you might want to try. We have few services available already, but if you want something different, don’t be afraid to ask, she’ll do her best to help you out
Daniela, from Porto, will be giving tiles and ceramic workshop in-house. All the ceramic items you find in the house are made by her and if you like something, ask us: most of the things you see in the house are for sale too.
Being the creative person she is, she didn’t stop at just one thing and she perfected the art of cooking too. Jointly with her husband Daniel, they will be cooking for our guests twice per month during the “Janta connosco” nights.
